How to read the result
Weak means a computer can guess it fast. Do not use it. Fair is better but still risky for mail and bank accounts. Good works for most daily accounts. Strong is what you want for mail, bank, and cloud storage. The crack time is only an estimate. Real attackers use stolen lists too, so a long and unique password always wins.
What makes a password strong
Length matters most. Follow these four rules:
- Go long. Twelve characters or more is a good floor.
- Mix it. Small and capital letters, numbers, and symbols.
- Skip personal stuff. No names, dates, or common words like password or qwerty.
- Never reuse. One password on two sites means one leak opens both. If one site leaks, the rest stay safe only when each is unique.
How attackers guess passwords
Most attackers do not guess by hand. They use lists from old leaks and try them on many sites at once. This trick is called spraying, and short reused passwords fall first. Read what a password spraying attack is. A long unique password is not in those lists, so the attacker moves on to easier prey.

Type football2024 in the box above. It is 11 signs long, yet it is weak. It joins a common word with a year, and attackers try exactly this shape. Now try a fake line like river horse runs at night. It is long and has no common shape, so it scores far better. Never use these examples as real passwords. They are only for learning the feel.

Common questions
Should I change passwords often?
Only when a site leaks or warns you. Quiet rotation wastes effort and pushes people to weaker picks.
Is longer always better than clever?
Yes. Each extra sign multiplies the guessing work. A long plain line beats a short clever one.
Do I still need this if I use fingerprints?
Yes. Prints unlock the device, but passwords still guard the accounts behind it.
Why scores differ elsewhere
Other meters use other rules, so the same password can score higher or lower there. My crack time is only an estimate at ten billion guesses per second. Real attackers may be slower or faster, and leaked lists beat math every time. Treat the result as guidance, not a promise.
